£160,000 funding boost for Coalisland and Dungannon neighbourhood Renewal areas

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland today announced a funding boost of over £160,000 for a Neighbourhood Renewal Co-ordinator in the Coalisland and Dungannon areas.

The co-ordinator will play a key role in helping to implement the neighbourhood renewal agenda for action for the area. The co-ordinator will also liaise with applicants and programme managers to ensure projects, which have been identified as central to improving the lives of people living within the Coalisland and Dungannon Neighbourhood Renewal Areas, are developed and delivered.

Minister McCausland said: "This is good news for the Coalisland and Dungannon Neighbourhood Renewal Areas. The funding of a co-ordinator will establish solid foundations in the area and manage important actions set out within the neighbourhood renewal agenda for action.

"By contributing to this project my Department is demonstrating its commitment to improving the quality of life and social conditions for people living in Coalisland and Dungannon."

The £160,00 package will also fund administrative support through Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council.

The total amount of Department for Social Development funding committed to Coalisland and Dungannon neighbourhood renewal areas to date are £1.3million and £1.8 million respectively.
