Dungannon lady prepares for charity mountain climb

A BIG-HEARTED Dungannon lady is preparing herself ahead of her attempt to climb the world's highest free-standing mountain Mount Kilimanjaro.

Respiratory Physiotherapist Susanne Magee will be taking on the 5,895 metre high challenge from September 8-19 in aid of Chest, Heart and Stroke Northern Ireland.

Susanne says she felt compelled to take up the daunting task as through her own work she frequently witnesses the "excellent and often unseen work" Chest, Heart and Stroke does.

Said Susanne, "Each year in Northern Ireland almost 10,000 people die from chest, heart and stroke illnesses and scarcely a family in our community has not been affected.

"Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke is committed to caring for today and finding a cure for tomorrow. I have opted to pay all costs of the trip so that all monies raised will go directly to the charity: Currently NI Chest, Heart and Stroke are spending £250,000 a year on research alone."

"The funding does not come from the government but from the generosity of people... without them it simply would not happen."

If you would like to make a donation to Susanne's cause please follow the link: http://www.justgiving.com/susanne-magee0 to contribute online by August 31st.
